TEHRAN (IQNA) – Algerian University professor Nureddin Abu Lahya said the Islamic Revolution of Iran has made many achievements, which are rooted in its spiritual and ideological roots.

Speaking to IQNA on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory, he said that a review of history shows that there are three types of revolutions.

Some revolutions are overtaken by opportunists after their victory, he said, adding that one example was when Muslims achieved victory and retook the holy Palestinian lands and then lost them again to Christians.

There are some revolutions that safeguard their victory but without having any development and progress, he said, referring to the events in some Arab countries as an example. He said colonialists have left these Arab countries but their impacts remain.

The Algerian scholar cited Iran’s Islamic Revolution as a unique instance of the third type of revolutions which has been moving toward perfection since it achieved victory.

The Islamic Revolution of Iran has added many accomplishments to its victory even under difficult situations and severe sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic, he stated.

Abu Lahya said the Iranian nation has not surrendered to enemies’ pressures but rather made efforts to counter them and gain self-sufficiency in many fields such as medicine, agriculture, nano-technology, etc.

He highlighted Iran’s incredible progress in the military sphere, saying the West would equip the Ba’athist regime of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein with advanced weapons during the 1980-1988 war but hindered Iran’s access to arms. The Islamic Republic, however, managed to attain self-sufficiency in manufacturing advanced weapons such as missiles, he stated.

The scholar lauded the speed with which Iran has moved on the path of progress over the past four decades since the victory of the Islamic Revolution while some other countries that had a revolution 50, 60 or 100 years ago have not achieved much and some of them have even moved backward.

Why is it that the Islamic Republic has achieved these despite the sanctions and so many pressures, he wondered, adding that the reason lies in the ideological dimension of the Islamic Revolution.

He said Imam Khomeini (RA) and Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei have planted the seeds of love for Jihad, resistance and sacrifice in the hearts of Iranians.

Millions of Iranians across the country observe ten days of celebrations in February every year marking the anniversary of the victory of the revolution that put an end to the monarchy of the US-backed Pahlavi regime in the country.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 44 years ago, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Islamic Revolution spearheaded by the late Imam Khomeini established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
